I liked the video that we watched. I think people are on their phones way too much nowadays and rely on their phones to do everything for them. It gets really annoying when you try to talk to someone but you can't because they're looking down a phone completely zoning you out. The world today is obsessed when it comes to technology, especially my generation. I mean how much can one person be on one device in a single day, get a life man. The amount of time people spend on their cell phones is ridiculous, I think the people that are on them too much are going to have terrible social skills when they get older. Put down the phones and talk to someone in person.

What is a 'splash page'? Look it up. Explain what they are and how they are used. Find an example of a splash page in Google Images. Save the image to you computer and then upload it to your blog post. Hint - see below.

 A splash page is the page of a Web site that the user sees first before they go into the rest of the website to continue to the main content of the site.It usually promotes a company, service or business. It will have animated graphics most of the time and it helps lure the web viewer into the website. Lots of websites have a splash page but we just don't recognize it that often because it isn't in the main content of the site.

Status update! Tell me where you are at on your product website? Can you be finished by tomorrow at the end of the hour? Do you need more time? How much more time? Be honest and explain yourself.

 I am pretty much done with my website I don't have anything left to do. I've got all my content pages done they all have a picture of the product, description of the product and the price of the product on the pages. I'll be finished by tomorrow because I'll be done today. I don't need more time. I just have a few things to do that could make my website look better.

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!

 My Spring Break was alright,I didn't really do a whole lot besides shoot baskets outside and look at a truck that I might get. Luckily the weather was good enough during the break so I could shoot hoops outside. I don't belong to gym or anything where I could shoot hoops inside, it's a waste of money to belong to a gym. I watched some of the basketball tournament but now that KU and Wichita State are out of the tournament I really have no interest in watching.

 I kind of like the layout of this project. I like how we are using drop down menus in our website because most advanced websites have drop down menus within the site. I liked the brainstorming sheet for a website like this because it helped keep everything organized and easy to access.

 I am all caught up on my project right now. Staying focused on what I am doing and working at a fast pace to get things done helps me stay caught up on this class. I like having small checkpoints because it helps me stay caught up and helps me not get behind.

What idea do you have that is going to make you product website different, unique or unlike anyone else? If you're answer is you don't know - it's time to start THINKING. Explain your idea.

 My website is going to be unique because I'll make the color scheme cool and stuff like that. I will also give good information and interesting information. My website will be unique because it's made by me and my personality is different from other peoples. Every website is unique in its own way so yeah.

What product have you decided to feature/sell on your product website? Explain why you've chosen this product and remember, the sky is the limit on this project!

 The products that I have chosen to sell are Rawlings products such as Baseballs, Gloves, Wood Bats and BBCOR bats. I chose this product because I know about a lot of the things Rawlings sells and how much they cost. I also chose to do this because my favorite sport is baseball and I think it will make the project easier if I'm doing it about something I like.

What effect can a color scheme have on a website? How can it make a website better? How can it make a website worse? Explain why color is important.

 A color scheme can effect the website by the mood of the website and certain colors go well with certain topics, also certain colors don't go well with some topics. A color scheme can make a website look better by making it look more appealing and lightening the mood of the site. If you have a bad color scheme that doesn't go with the topic of the site it can make the website look awful.

What did you learn about file types as you created and designed your travel website? What are some other kinds of file types you know of? What do these different files do? Explain.

 I learned that certain file types won't work with Dream Weaver and some types will. For example the png file works in Dream Weaver but the regular Photoshop file doesn't work. I know of other file types like jpeg and things similar to that but I don't know how they work.

What was your takeaway from this Travel Site? What did you learn that you didn't know before? How will the knowledge of how we built this site help you improve your future websites?

 I liked doing the travel website. I thought it was cool how once you were done with all your Photoshop images the site pretty much just creates itself. I learned how to do rollover images and increased my skill with Photoshop and learned how to save an image as a png. I will use this knowledge when making future websites to make my websites more advanced and cooler looking with text images and rollover images.

How can Photoshop be a valuable tool in web design? Explain.

 Photoshop can be a valuable tool in web design if you want to make multiple pictures with effects, text, etc. Photoshop can also make the pictures on your website look a lot better than they usually are and it can make the picture more appealing to the eye. It's a great tool for making multiple pictures of the same image or just making pictures look more appealing.

What do you know about Photoshop? Have you used it before? What can it do? Are you an expert? A newbie? Tell me about your background and what you already know.

 I know that Photoshop is a picture editing program on the computer that can do a ton of stuff with color, size, appearance all that stuff. Pretty much all the famous people you see on the cover of magazines or on the web, that picture has probably been photo shopped. I have used Photoshop before, I used it in 8th grade when I took emerging technologies. I'm not and expert or new to Photoshop...I have just used it before and had past experiences with it.

Think about how a user (me or anyone else using your site) might function and interact with your site. What are some important functional features to make your website easy to work with? How can you make it easier for the user and not frustrating? Explain why this is so important.

 I think that the functionality of a website should be easy for the user. The user should be able to roam and access the sit easily with no trouble. Everything should be appealing to the eye and no hard to read, easy to gather information. The user shouldn't have to click the mouse 100 times just to find what they're looking for. It is important to have your website easily functional because people aren't going to sit there for hours clicking and trying to find basic information.

Tell me about your Sweetheart weekend. If you didn't go to Sweetheart, what did you do? I want details! 

My sweetheart weekend was alright. I didn't go to the dance because that's just lame. Instead on Saturday, I just kinda hung out at home played some Xbox and that kind of stuff. I watched KU lose to Texas, and the Duke and Syracuse game go into overtime. On Sunday, I got up and went to church that was alright. I came home and played a rec basketball game, we ended up winning by 4. After the game i went home and watched the most boring Superbowl ever played.

Tell me about your All About Me site. What are going to be your 4 main content pages? Why did you choose those topics? What big plans do you have for your site that is going to make it different and creative?
My website is going to be pretty sweet I think. My main content pages are School, Friends, Family, and Hobbies. I chose these topics because with all four of those things I can explain my life and all about myself. The big plans that I have for my site are I'm going to make it presentable and easy to follow and get information from. I plan to have a picture of some sort on at least every page.

What are your thoughts on HTML code? Did you enjoy the coding activity? Do you feel like you learned anything? Explain yourself.

 I thought that the HTML code was pretty awesome and it was fun creating a website in a different way. i didn't know anything about HTML before that activity so I learned a lot by just doing the activity. I enjoyed doing the HTML activity because it was something new and something that I've never done before. By doing the activity I feel like I have learned a lot about HTML, how it works, how to use it, when to use it, etc.

Tuesday, January 21st

Tell me about your three day weekend. How was it? What did you do?

 My three day weekend was pretty good. Friday, I went to the Sophomore boys basketball game at southwest and they ended up winning on a last second shot. It was pretty sweet. On Saturday my parents were gone the whole day so some buddies and I played 3 on three basketball games for a couple of hours and then watched the KU game. Sunday, my rec team had a basketball game at Lakewood Middle School. We were playing a team from our school so it was a lot of fun. My team ended up winning by 30 or something like that. On Monday I didn't do too much besides shoot some squirrels and hang out with some friends for a couple of hours.

Tell me if you agree with this statement and then why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted it, I should be able to use it.

I think that if someone posts a picture online then you should be aloud to copy and save the image. I think this because your not really offending the person by copying or saving their image, it's almost like saying that you like their photo because you copied it. Therefore it's almost like giving them a compliment through using their image. I think that if someone uses an image that's not there you should at least site the image.

What do you know about plagiarism? What do you know about plagiarism on the internet?How do web design, the internet and plagiarism all effect each other?
 Plagiarism is when someone copies work from someone else without citing or giving them credit for the other persons work.Plagiarisms happens a lot on the internet when people copy and paste things they read about and then put them into a paper or something like that without citing the work. Copying and pasting or even saving an image from Google or another website is plagiarism. This happens in web design when the designer copies and pastes stuff like pictures, words, etc.

What do you already know about web design? How it works? Programs you can use? Tools that exist?

I don't know a lot about web design, all I know is that you design and make websites. I know of a few free web design programs that you can use like Wix and Weebly. Tools that exist are, being able to change your background, using templates, changing colors, changing text, and other stuff like that.
